Hope for Hollywood, Comparisons between 2016 vs 2015 Golden Globe Awards

Jamie presents at 2016 Golden Globe

Since time immemorial, nothing has made more buzz than an awards show, the four major ones being the Oscar’s, the Grammy’s, the Golden Globe Award and the Screen Actors Guild Awards.   This year’s 73 third and last years 72nd Golden Globe Awards stood out for comparison. Both of course were held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills and both in January as usual but that is where the similarities ended.  As we’ve said before and it bears saying again, it is indeed a night of glamour in celebration of the industry’s finest and most talented celebrities but something seemed very different this year.

The Golden Globe Award is not only the night we want to know if our bets bagged their deserving nominations, not only was this a night we waited for laughs as the  raunchy but hilarious Ricky Gervais strived to compare to the always hard act to follow duo, Tina Fey and Amy Poehler,  the hosts of last years show, their last year to do so, not only did last year prove that Robert Downey Jr might only get hotter with age, but it also is a night most of us look forward to being a night of fashion and beauty that sets the hottest trends. This is the year we saw some real evidence that the Golden Globe Award has taken over the mantel from the Oscars at least from the perspective of reflecting the diversity that exists in America and the world.

Shown here at the 2015 Golden Globe Viola Davis, the How To Get Away with Murder star, wore voluminous curls with her mid-length bob.  This year she was nominated in the same category as Taraji which is a rare occurrence for women of color in Hollywood and further signs that the Golden Globe is keeping up with societal progress to a  far better extent then the Oscar’s.

Lupita Nyong’o, always the bell of the ball turned heads in true Lupita Nyong’o fashion arrived with short hair and this simplicity is just unrivaled.   It’s been a long draught for actors of color since her Oscar win in 2014 for best supporting actress.

Jared Leto

Did we mention how we love that Jared Leto always takes risks? Did we also mention he is the only man whose fashion we look forward to every single year? This year he wore a man-braid. That’s why!

Amal Clooney

Amal Clooney was a sight of class and elegance with her long brunette shiny hair just tousled slightly.
